1957 FENDER DUO-SONIC GUITAR! Very Excellent Example! 100% All-Original w/Case! No Reserve, Free Shipping! ITEM: For your consideration is this vintage 1957 Fender Duo-Sonic electric guitar. This all original extremely fine example, serial #-21301, is about as nice as they come with very little evidence of playing wear. Although the Fender Duo-Sonic was only a step-up from Fender's introductory student Musicmaster model, this era version features the iconic gorgeous aesthetic combination of Desert Sand finish with the famous anodized Gold pickguard. This variety Duo-Sonic has always been the affordable favorite for those interested in owning a 1950's Fender on a reasonable budget. In the past we have sold similar examples (none of which were as clean, or in as nice condition) for over $2,500.00, however, you never know what the eBay market place demand, so take advantage of this opportunity to own a truly special guitar and a very wise investment, and bid, as the highest bidder wins, regardless of price! The Duo-Sonic, first introduced in 1956 (just months after the Musicmaster), was another in a line of "Student model" guitars from Fender. It features a 22.5" scale length, a solid Ash body, (2) Strat-style single-coil pickups, a 22-fret bolt-on Soft-V-shaped maple neck with black dot inlays and a 1.5" nut width, single-line Kluson Deluxe enclosed tuning machines, a Tele-style fixed bridge, and the original Fender case. Additionally, this guitar featured a vertical toggle switch on the bottom horn of the body instead of the traditional Fender blade selector. This particular example is 100% all-original, in very excellent vintage condition (9+/10), and is quite light, weighing 6 lb. 7 oz. The front of the guitar is in absolutely amazing condition. The finish on the top of the body displays almost no finish wear, and no evidence of weather-checking. Even more amazing is the lack of wear on the gold-colored anodized pickguard. From the front, the body looks almost new! There are several small signs of wear on the back of the body, and only one of which (about 1/8"x1/8") goes through the finish and exposes the wood underneath. Otherwise, there are some general finish indentations and smudges, but nothing overly distracting. There is obvious playing wear on the fingerboard, which is deceiving because the frets exhibit absolutely no wear. All the electronics work perfectly with no audible indications of scratchy pots or intermittent connections. The pickups sound great: unless you don't like1950's Strats! All 3 positions have quite strong output, yet are clear and sweet. The original Stackpole pots (304 645) indicate a late-1956 production, while the neck is pencil-dated "8-57." The neck profile is the quintessential soft-V neck profile, which fits perfectly in your hand. The neck is as straight as an arrow, and the action is consistently low from the first to last fret. The neck angle is perfect, and is not in need of a shim. The original case is in comparable condition, however a belt was installed to secure the neck of the guitar for transport. All of the latches work properly, and the handle looks great. The interior is in corresponding condition, and does not smell nor exhibits stains.
